Okay, I've recently been doing some work with Chris Dawe, head honcho of Haste, wait... make that "Head Honcho of Haste". That title is much better capitalized. Anyway, He bought a super old wood press for 200$, which was a steal. And he spent about 2000$ upgrading it so it wouldn't explode. The first day, we carried in two big slabs of concrete which were either side of the mold. We mounted the top and bottom halves on each part of the machine respectively. He pressed some 2 ply bamboo boards, and they turned out well, and the adhesive worked well too. It has been a super fun experience so far, and I really hope that the company can break onto the scene, spread the stoke, and make some cash haha.
One of my skate buddies; Eli Martin, is setting up a bunch of races for this upcoming season, he said about 10, but I'm not totally sure how he'll fit that into 3-4 months haha. He's calling it the Pirate Series, which I'm assuming is because of being a member of the Escarpment Surfers from Ontario. It's shaping up to be a pretty sweet season for longboarding. So far, I'm planning on going to RTG, High Level & ROGUE, hopefully a Maryhill Freeride, and whatever local races people set up. I was actually thinking of putting together a super giant slalom on this hill in St. Albert, it would be really awesome. I wonder if I could get the city council to close the road for a couple of hours. They probably wouldn't, so I shouldn't ask. If I did they might go "Oh, a race on x! What time? Oh y 'o'clock! It would be a shame if there happened to be a bunch of peace officers there on the same day!"
I know my life is outta luck, FOOL! (aka; until next time, readers.)

Powder Snowmobiling + Minecraft + New Board
Today my Grandpa took me out into the Sturgeon County river valley/lake area. If you don't live in Edmonton, you can't fully comprehend how much snow we've gotten in the past month or so. In the middle of a field, where it hasn't been disturbed, you can hop off of your ski-doo and sink literally to mid-thigh depth.I have never, ever been riding in that much snow, and I think it's the most snowfall since '86 in Alberta or something like that.
Anyway, I learned from my Grandpa today that to turn in deep powder, you actually have to steer the opposite direction (barely) and lean like hell. Once I got a handle on it, it was the best riding I've ever done. I felt like I was in one of those Bombardier commercials where the rider has the machine tilted 50* to whichever side he's turning to. Unless you've actually been in powder for snowmobiling, you will never fully grasp how much fun it is. I would say on par with powder snowboarding. It feels less like a car, and more like surfing. So basically, if you ever get the opportunity to do it, DO IT!
I am staying at my grandparents house for the next couple of days, and I downloaded Minecraft onto their PC. I am always amazed at how cool the randomly generated worlds can be. I spawned on a beach and thought it wasn't anything special, so I turn around, and there's an enormous stone mountain with I giant cavern leading all the way through it. So awesome. I have seen some screenshots of other players worlds, and they are really cool. One was kind of like that floating mountain range in Avatar (Hallelujah Mountains I think they were called) and they had lakes on these floating mountains that had big waterfalls streaming towards the ground. That would be the coolest home base ever.
I really want a downhill oriented freeride board for the upcoming season, and Subsonic makes customs. So I drew up a swallow tailed topmount that was about 37" long. I show it to my friend Vince, and he says "Oh yeah, that looks a lot like the Grease Shark". The Grease Shark? I hadn't heard about Comet's new board until he sent me a link. It looked like a way sweeter version of the concept I sketched. So guess which board I'm getting now!
PEACE!

Half Shell Downhill + Math
My friends Tyler, Joe, and myself have made a new channel on youtube. We can't make any vids because the weather is so shitty right now. Joe said he wants to get more into bombing hills and not just sliding this season, so that'll be fun to not be the only member of HSDH who does DH.
We're doing mid-terms in school right now, so I go to school at 8am, leave at ~11, and hop on the bus home. The one I have tomorrow is math, which is by far my worst and least favourite subject. A large portion of math this year was programming your TI-84. That part of it went straight over my head, which feels kind of unfair. I don't think you're math grade should be judged by how well you can work a piece of technology.
Science (more specifically physics) is more math-like than math was this year. I actually liked physics. It's practical, and helps you learn about the world around you. What I don't get is this "linear equation" crap. Where on earth would I possibly need to know the "ordonee a l'origine" of a graph?(My school is french by the way) I really wish that we'd learn things like financing and tax stuff that will actually help us in the future.
Enough of that though. I can scream and shout figuratively over the internet all I want and it won't change anything.
Bye Bye People.
