Okay, I've recently been doing some work with Chris Dawe, head honcho of Haste, wait... make that "Head Honcho of Haste". That title is much better capitalized. Anyway, He bought a super old wood press for 200$, which was a steal. And he spent about 2000$ upgrading it so it wouldn't explode. The first day, we carried in two big slabs of concrete which were either side of the mold. We mounted the top and bottom halves on each part of the machine respectively. He pressed some 2 ply bamboo boards, and they turned out well, and the adhesive worked well too. It has been a super fun experience so far, and I really hope that the company can break onto the scene, spread the stoke, and make some cash haha.
One of my skate buddies; Eli Martin, is setting up a bunch of races for this upcoming season, he said about 10, but I'm not totally sure how he'll fit that into 3-4 months haha. He's calling it the Pirate Series, which I'm assuming is because of being a member of the Escarpment Surfers from Ontario. It's shaping up to be a pretty sweet season for longboarding. So far, I'm planning on going to RTG, High Level & ROGUE, hopefully a Maryhill Freeride, and whatever local races people set up. I was actually thinking of putting together a super giant slalom on this hill in St. Albert, it would be really awesome. I wonder if I could get the city council to close the road for a couple of hours. They probably wouldn't, so I shouldn't ask. If I did they might go "Oh, a race on x! What time? Oh y 'o'clock! It would be a shame if there happened to be a bunch of peace officers there on the same day!"
I know my life is outta luck, FOOL! (aka; until next time, readers.)
